Getting away...

We just got back from a little vacation in the mountains of North Carolina. We were up there for 3 days and it was supposed to be four, but the hurricane leftovers came up there and ran us off. There was only so much to do up there in the cold and wet weather. It was awesome to see a small town yet it wasn't so small. Asheville is a cool place, a great little downtown and some shopping and entertainment around the city. Too bad there isn't anything within two hours of Asheville or it would be somewhere I could see myself living. There is something to be had for a quaint little downtown, with shops and cafe's and so on...just nice. It gives you something to do when there really isn't anything to do, that is besides watching tv or playing online. Nature is something else, really - its nice. We are too used to the conveniences of city life and being connected all the time. I don't mean that I can be a country boy and never get online or watch another reality show or whatever, just that it is nice to go see an area where that stuff doesn't matter. It was nice to have our first real vacation, the first since our first anniversary trip to Germany last August. We are always stuck here and don't get out. It was nice to be able to spend some time shopping and going out and seeing "the town"...Asheville that is. I hope to visit the area again in the warmer seasons and really enjoy the natural setting there.
Speaking of travel, Sarah leaves in less than 3 days :( I am so excited for her to be able to go, and it is only three weeks, which isn't anything compared to three months (what we've done before). I know she is going to be busy over there and seeing everyone, that she will truly have a great time. I am so glad that she is going now, because her gpa wasn't doing that well, until they removed a gallon of water from his stomach today!!! That is a lot of water! I am happy to hear that he is doing a lot better and hopefully goes home in a few days rather than a few weeks. I am mostly excited for her family to get to see her when none of them thought that she was going to make it there this year :( but she is!! :D I will have an easier time seeing her go on Sunday knowing that she is in good hands and in a good place! I just can't wait to go back over there soon!
